London Luton Airport (LLA) had a record-breaking month with 13 per cent passenger growth in November. This month was the London airport’s 32nd consecutive month of passenger growth, following its milestone in October of 14 million passengers. LLA is currently investing more than £110m to increasing the airport’s capacity from 12m to 18m passengers per year by 2020.

As part of its £115 million transformation plan, London Luton airport will be installing additional five e-passport gates at its terminal this month, according to a report by Business Traveller. The e-gates use facial recognition technology to provide identity and security checks and can be used by European Economic Area nationals travelling with a biometric passport.

A “tram-train” system has been chosen as the preferred option for a long-awaited Glasgow Airport rail link. The £144million project, which could be operational by 2025, would see carriages run on existing rail tracks between Glasgow Central station and Paisley Gilmour Street, before moving to on-street tram tracks running to the front of the main airport terminal.

Last month, 884,350 passengers travelled through its doors – an increase of 5.7% on October 2015. Easyjet and Flybe put on additional services to Bristol and Belfast, boosting regional routes from Glasgow. October saw another high for Glasgow. The airport had its busiest October half term break in a decade, as more than 160,000 people jetted off for the school holidays.

Good news for travelers from London who are looking for both beach and city breaks in Europe! EasyJet has announced that it will add three new routes from London’s Luton Airport. Along with the new routes, EasyJet has expanded its Luton network to 59 destinations. According to London Luton Airport, there have been more than 1.3 million passengers who chose to travel through the airport last Oct. 2016. This is an 18.7 percent increase from a number of travelers compared to Oc. 2015. With its expected increase in passengers from Luton this year, this new addition is a welcome change to travelers.
