London Luton Airport’s Redevelopment Plans

London Luton Airport’s extensive redevelopment project is now well under way to upgrade the airport terminal and security areas, improve road access and increase parking facilities. Also included in the plans is a 395 acre enterprise zone which could create over 7,000 new jobs. The transformation will increase the airport´s capacity and also the number of destinations available to passengers. The redesigning of the terminal will make it quicker and easier for all passengers travelling from London Luton Airport. Projects expected to be completed this year include Pier A extensions, pedestrian walkway, dual-carriageway, short-term car park and the multi-storey car park. Busiest April Ever For Glasgow Airport

Glasgow Airport has recorded its busiest April on record after 665,000 passengers travelled through its doors during the month, representing an increase of 15.4% on the same period last year. There was a marked increase in both international and domestic traffic, which grew by 20.4% and 10.9% respectively, ensuring the airport was also able to record its 26th consecutive month of growth. Long haul carriers Air Transat and United experienced an increase in demand for their trans-Atlantic services and the airport’s hub carriers including KLM, British Airways and Icelandair also enjoyed a busy month. Passenger numbers were also boosted by the Easter getaway which saw tens of thousands of travellers take to the skies. Thomas Cook Airlines announces new routes to Cancun and Barbados from Glasgow Airport

Thomas Cook Airlines’ has announced new routes to Cancun and Barbados from Glasgow Airport for winter 2015. As a result of the increasing demand for long haul from Glasgow Airport from travellers in Scotland, the airline will also extend its Las Vegas programme (launched on 4th May 2015) to operate weekly on Mondays continuing up to 4th January 2016 – and then double the number of flights to this great destination in the summer of 2016 – whilst also increasing the number of summer flights to Orlando. Wizz Air To Launch Direct Flights From Glasgow To Lithuania

Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, has announced it is to introduce direct flights between Glasgow and the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius. It will be the first time Vilnius has been served as a destination from Glasgow Airport and Wizz Air will operate a year round, twice weekly service starting on 16 September 2015. Vilnius is the second biggest city of the Baltic states and is renowned for being home to one of the largest surviving medieval quarters in Europe.
