Glasgow Airport records 50th consecutive month of growth

BOSSES at Glasgow Airport are on a high after the Paisley-based terminal recorded its 50th consecutive month of growth. Latest figures show more than 786,000 passengers jetted off from the airport last month. It was the busiest April on record, with an 8.9 per cent increase in customers compared to the same period last year. There was an 18 per cent increase in international traffic, with strong demand for the airport’s new European destinations, such as Valencia and Lisbon. Retail expansion complements passenger surge at London Luton Airport

London Luton Airport enjoyed another brisk month of passenger growth after welcoming more than 1.3m travellers through its doors last month. The South East airport, which has been gradually building impressive numbers in recent years, saw a 16% increase year-on-year in the number of passengers utilising the airport as it embarks on its wide-ranging expansion plans. The footfall represents an increase of 8.9 per cent on the same period last year. Glasgow Airport reported its busiest April on record after more than 786,000 passengers travelled through its doors during the month. The footfall represents an increase of 8.9 per cent on the same period last year. The increase in international traffic ensured the airport was also able to record its 50 consecutive month of growth. There was strong demand for the airport’s growing list of European destinations including Ryanair’s new services to Valencia, Lisbon and the Lithuanian city of Palanga. Plans for Luton Airport hotel take flight

Redefine|BDL Hotels (RBH) has today (9 May) announced that it will manage the upcoming Courtyard by Marriott London Luton Airport hotel undertaken by Polcom Developments. The hotel is expected to open early in 2018. The new 250 bedroom modular build hotel will be situated just 10 minutes’ walk from Luton Airport’s departure lounge, and will boast thoughtfully designed guestrooms that promote comfort and productivity, plus a bar, bistro and gym. Thirst for transatlantic flights pushes Gatwick to break passenger world record

A spike in long-haul passengers to North America has helped Gatwick Airport smash a world record for passenger at a single-runway airport. The airport passed the 44m passengers a year mark last Saturday driven by demand long-haul routes, particularly transatlantic ones. The number of passengers on such flights rose 47pc to 2.87m during the year to end of March as 20 new long-haul routes were launched from the airport. The West Sussex airport also enjoyed a surge in the amount of cargo it handled, with it rising 16pc to 81,138 metric tonnes, suggesting there is strong demand for hold space on long-haul flights from importers and exporters.
