New routes announced as London Luton celebrates 43rd consecutive month of growth

London Luton Airport (LLA) recorded another record month in October, welcoming over 1.4 million passengers – an increase of 3 per cent from last year and the airport’s 43rd consecutive month of growth. As the airport continues to add more passengers, it is expanding its route network to cater to business and leisure travel. So far in 2017, 22 new routes have been added, with the airport now offering more than 130 destinations across Europe, Asia and Africa. The latest additions include Thomas Cook announcing it will fly to eight new destinations next summer, including Palma, Dalaman and Corfu. Glasgow Airport celebrates 10 record months in a row after busiest-ever October

From families jetting off for the school holidays to fans following Celtic to Munich, it was another big month for the airport Glasgow Airport celebrated its busiest-ever October this year, with more than 928,000 travelling through its doors – a 5% increase on last year. EU-scheduled flights were up 16% from 2016, thanks to additional capacity and strong demand for city breaks to places like Milan, Valencia and Lisbon. London Gatwick achieved its busiest ever October

Gatwick wins Airport of the Year, a global environmental award and Digital Team of the year – at separate ceremonies

Wizz Air UK to expand UK market from London Luton Airport

A Hungarian-based airline said it was “committed to the UK market” after applying for an operator’s licence. Wizz Air wants to expand at London Luton Airport and employ more than 100 people by the end of 2018. The company applied for a UK flying licence from the Civil Aviation Authority. LLA enjoys another record month

Almost 1.5 million passengers flew through London Luton Airport (LLA) in September, representing a 6% rise compared with the same month last year. This latest increase marks the 42nd consecutive month of growth for LLA. Although passenger demand continues to soar, a lack of adequate public transport links is restricting the number of travellers who choose to use LLA and the UK’s ability to maximise available air capacity ahead of a new runway at Heathrow.
